German’s ability to find happiness and comfort in simple pleasures was his greatest strength and gift to us. He would crave laying down on and smelling the fresh grass in a park or lawn. German always made time to pause and rest anywhere he could to feel the warmth of the sun embracing his skin on sunny days. When the rain would come, it was just an invitation to find shelter outdoors with his daughters and flashlights to find earthworms to fish with in the morning. Sometimes hours would pass before these storms let up, but Dad showed us that even the heaviest rains or scariest of storms would all eventually pass, and the sun would As an adult, German set out to create a family of his own to love with all of his heart and to be loved by. He taught us, his daughters, everything he ever learned in school and in living life’s journey. He loved us exactly as we were and as we are without judgement. Dad always spoke to us as equals and encouraged us to be “all that we can be”. His life’s most treasured endeavor and his greatest accomplishment was being a kind stranger in passing to all, a loyal friend to many, a loving husband to Mom, and the best Dad his daughters could ever imagine getting the privilege to know.
