In Loving Memory of Christopher Joel Johnson “Papa Chris”

It is with deep sorrow and enduring love that we announce the unexpected passing of Christopher Joel Johnson, affectionately known as “Papa Chris.” A devoted husband, loving father, cherished son, and loyal friend, Chris passed away leaving behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and unwavering dedication to his family and passions.

Born in Rock Springs, Wyoming to Amber and Christopher A. Johnson. Chris spent his life surrounded by the beauty of nature he so deeply loved. He made Idaho his home, where he built a life filled with purpose, adventure, and love. He was the proud husband to his high school sweetheart Katherine Johnson, with whom he shared a deep and abiding bond. Together, they raised two beloved daughters, Emma and Oakley Johnson, who were the light of his life. He was the true definition of a girl dad.

Chris earned his degree in Environmental Health and Safety from Eastern Iowa College, and he carried a steadfast commitment to protecting both people and the environment through his work.

A true outdoorsman at heart, Chris found joy and peace in the natural world. Whether it was hunting, fishing, kayaking, or simply spending time in the fresh air, he felt most at home in the great outdoors. He was a man who believed in living life fully, embracing each day with courage and gratitude.

He is survived by his wife Katherine; his daughters Emma and Oakley; his parents, Christopher and Amber Johnson; his siblings Garrett, Shariya, LaDawna, and Michael; and his cherished nephew Harvey. Each of them will carry his memory forward with love and honor.

Chris’s presence was a gift to all who knew him. His laugh, his wisdom, and his unwavering love will remain with us always.

A celebration of life has yet to be decided.
