Indra Barbara Krastins, age 73, of Seattle, Washington passed away early Thursday morning, August 14, after a year long battle with cancer. She was born July 21, 1952 in Hettinger, North Dakota. She is proceeded in death by her Latvian immigrant parents the late Ilgvars Krastins, Elvira Inkis Krastins, and step-mother Valda Leimanis Krastins.

Indra grew up in Minnesota. She graduated from Wayzata High School and then later from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Social Work and Child Psychology. While still in Minnesota and after her move to Seattle, Indra dedicated herself to helping others, especially young people, both as a social worker and later as a paraprofessional educator for the Shoreline Washington School district.

She moved to Seattle Washington in 1984 where she married and raised her sons. She was a loving mother, navigating the challenges of work and parenting, creating a nurturing, and loving home environment for her sons.

Indra’s second home while in Washington was Bridal Trails Park where she would live out her passion as an equestrian. This interest/passion was there from her earliest days riding ponies in a pony ring, owning her first horse as a teenager, and evolving to riding her loved horses in dressage competitions. She cared for Monty, Iago, and BB with loving, experienced hands.

She is survived by her sons Aleks and Nik Rudzitis and their wives Yuling Zhou and Lauren Rudzitis; her beloved grandchildren Amelia, Jonny, and Theo; her sister Andra Roethler; and her nephew Rob and niece Anna Roethler. She also leaves many other dear family members around the globe and friends who will miss her very much.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 pm on September 20th at Sunset Hill Community Hall.

Condolences may be set to the family at [email protected]. In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests donations to:  Bridle Trails Park foundation bridletrails.org/donate
