Anne Augusta Keith Werner Anderson, age 92, died on September 9, 2026. She was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, April 27, 1934 to Richard Keith Werner and Margaret Krohg Werner.

Anne was the youngest of three girls, her older sisters were Barbara Brydges (Clinton) and Margaret Lamus (Everett). During her early years the family spent much of their time at the family cottage on Round Lake. As a child, Anne loved her pet garter snakes, often taking the smallest ones with her to school in her pockets. She loved spending days helping her grandfather, “Doctor-Daddy,” treat patients at the house or cottage, assisting with everything from basic care to removing a fishhook from someone’s eye.

Anne graduated from high school in 1952 and attended the University of Wisconsin for several years.1954-55 Anne joined the professional ice-skating tour group, Holiday On Ice, preforming around the U.S. and Mexico. She then came to Seattle to join her sister Barbie and she attended the University of Washington Theater Program. Anne later returned to Wisconsin to complete her Bachelor degree.

While in Seattle, Anne met Gordon Richard Anderson on Alki beach when he pulled up with his friends in the boat he’d built. She was impressed. Anne married Gordon in 1959, and worked as a hostess at the top of the Space Needle during the 1962 World’s Fair. During that time, they built their first home on Mercer Island, and began looking for the perfect beach. They found that beach at Double Bluff on Whidbey Island. In 1964/65, they built their next home and spent the rest of their lives on that perfect beach in Useless Bay.

Anne and Gordon loved skiing in Sun Valley Idaho, a place they loved so much they would return every year for the next 56 years to ski and hike. Anne continued to ski until she was almost 80.

Anne shared Gordon’s love of adventure, trusted his judgment and together they created an amazing life. In the early 1970’s, they had several Alaska adventures, driving the Alcan Highway and spending several summers in a tribal village in the SE and on the outskirts of Fairbanks.

Anne helped start a preschool in Langley in 1964/65, and was a member of a singing-musical-entertainment group, The Four
Friends, who often preformed at various events on South Whidbey. She sold Avon, worked part-time in local retail, and managed to keep track of all 5 kids, and many well-loved dogs and cats.

Together Anne and Gordon created and maintained a huge and beautiful garden every year, taking up every square inch of dirt in front and back yards. It was their hobby and their passion. Anne lost Gordy in 2023, but she continued watering and weeding to the very end. Exactly where she wanted to be. She will be missed deeply by her family and those who were lucky enough to have known her.

Anne is survived by her Children: Wendy Anderson (Jack Hutt) of Shoreline, Keith Anderson of Freeland and Maren Anderson (Mark Tienhaara) of Camano Island, and Grandchildren: Vreni Hutt (Steffen Torgersen) and Cole Hutt, her Step-Children: Christine Anderson (Duane Rawson) of Lagoon Point, and Cynthia Ray of Spokane, Step-Grandchild: Randi Ray Schmidt (Josh Schmidt), Step-Great Grandchildren: Mason and Scarlett Schmidt.
