Doreen Olive Lambert, 87, of Coupeville WA, passed away peacefully on December 15 th , 2022.

Doreen was born on August 18, 1935 to George and Helen Redout in Seven Kings, England. After
finishing school, she continued her education at Pitman’s College in London. Doreen went on to work in
the secretarial field across a variety of industries including real estate, mortgage and hospitality. She
loved interacting with the people she met and created many lasting friendships.

In 1964, while visiting her brother and sister-in-law in Suffolk, she met Eugene Lambert who was
stationed at nearby Bentwaters Airbase. They were then married in 1965 and over time had three
children. Throughout their life together, Gene and Doreen had some unique opportunities that allowed
them to live in some beautiful locations both in and out of the US. They loved to travel and have many
keepsakes from their adventures. The last fifteen years of Doreen’s working career were spent in
Bellevue, WA.

Retiring in 2000, Doreen and Gene then moved to Whidbey Island where they had built their dream
home on land that they had originally purchased in 1987. No longer limited to quick weekend trips to
the Island, Doreen was able to spend her time doing the things that gave her pleasure: puttering in her
garden, feeding her birds, having a cup of tea with friends and soaking in the view from her deck.

Doreen was proceeded in death by her husband Eugene, granddaughter Ellie as well as her brothers
George and Ken. She is survived by her children Andrew (Anja), Michelle (James), Matthew (Nicole),
seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild as well as her beloved sister-in-law Jean who she had an
especially close relationship with for over 70 years.

The family is forever grateful to Dana, Gabe & Valerie who provided Doreen compassionate and
dignified care in their home when she was no longer able to live on her own. Evergreen Hospice is an
amazing team who offered invaluable support. Friends Diane, Kim and Nicki held the fort down for
Doreen while she was off island which gave her such peace of mind. The prayers, letters, cards and calls from friends both near and far brought Doreen considerable joy.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at United Methodist Church in Coupeville, WA on January 14th
2023 at 1pm. Friends are invited to come and share fond memories and stories. The family encourages
attendees to wear their favorite color in honor of Doreen’s penchant for dressing with pizzazz.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made to either WAIF Animal Shelter or MADD, two
organizations that Doreen felt strongly about.
