On Friday, October 1, 2021, heaven gained another beautiful angel with the passing of Joan Marie Danielson at the age of 70. Joan was born on June 3, 1951, to her parents Joseph and Dorothy Soland in the charming city of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota.

Joan spent her childhood in Minnesota with her parents and nine siblings: Janet, Phillip, Loran, Aaron, Russell, Mike, Annette, Theresa & Amy. After graduating High School and attending some college, Joan began working at the West Central Turkey Plant. It was while employed there that she met her husband and life-long friend, Larry Danielson together they had twin daughters, Stephanie Shuey and Stacy Proudfoot and shortly after, moved to the West Coast.

Joan was blessed with five grandchildren that she loved very much. Stacy’s daughter, Katelyn Proudfoot and Oleg, and son, Bradley Proudfoot. Stephanie’s sons, Bronc Shuey and Chrissy, Braymer & Alicia Shuey, and daughter, Lariat Shuey, from Stephanie’s significant other, Bob Ford, his daughters, Casey Ford and Jake, and Alley Ford. Joan will also be remembered by Larry Shuey and Russell Proudfoot, the fathers of her grandchildren.

Joan loved spending time with her grandchildren, especially during the holidays, Christmas being her favorite. She preferred warm sunny days over snow and cold weather. She also enjoyed drama television and a good book and loved watching sports, especially when it was her grandkids playing.

Joan will be missed by all her family and friends, including the staff of the Wesley Homes Health Center in Des Moines, Washington, who have cared for her the past 3 years and were there for her and her family.
For all those affected by Joan’s passing, may this bible verse give you comfort: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” ~ Psalm 34:18
Joan had a heart and spirit that cared for many. Her wishes were to have her remembrance more private than a public formal ceremony. Joan expressed that she wanted the ashes of her remains to be scattered in a favorite destination of hers, Leavenworth, Washington. For those who wish to remember Joan through cards and condolences, please send them to the following address and they will be shared with her family and friends.
