Marcia Jean Hinchen Meek, age 73, the pillar of our family passed away peacefully at her home in Kirkland WA surrounded by her family and loved ones. Our mother fought fiercely for two months after a diagnosis of stage 4 pancreatic cancer, but to our dismay she was called too early to heaven.  She is survived by daughters Rachael A. Gillen, and Rebecca S. Fritz, Grandchildren Joshua M. Gillen, and Sarah C. Gillen.

Marcia was the second daughter of four children to Edward Patrick Hinchen and Betty Lou Hinchen, who preceded her along with her cherished Grandmother, Hattie Ruth McCarthy. Marcia was Born in Folks, Washington on October 28, 1948 and raised in Snohomish where she attended high school graduating in 1966. She was a member of her school band where she found her passion for playing her Alto Saxophone. Throughout her life she played at numerous churches, including her father’s church. Marcia professed her love for Christ at an early age and maintained her relationship and faith in God, Jesus Christ, throughout her life.

She had a generous heart, truly lived life to the fullest, and devoted thirty years to nurturing and caring for the elderly in the healthcare field. She was always eager to help others, passing out lunches to the homeless in downtown Seattle, and witnessing on the streets. She was loved and cherished by all whose life she touched, a friend to many, all who knew her; loved her. She will be missed forever, by so many who loved and cared for her. Marcia’s contagious smile, unforgettable laugh, and joy for living were a source of so much of all our happiness.

In honor of Marcia, we would like to encourage you to donate to the following organizations:

Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (https://www.pancan.org/), and

Humane Society (https://houmanesociety.org)

Marcia had a passion for animals, and wanted to help other people who are affected by cancer.

We were blessed by our time with her and know she is watching us from above. She will sorely be missed and will forever be in our thoughts and hearts.

We love you mom!!!
