Marian Lucile Sipher, 97, of Ocean City, Washington passed away surrounded by her family on November 1st, 2021 after a brief battle with cancer.

Marian was born in Aberdeen, South Dakota on February 20, 1924 to Anna and George Kimball. The family moved to Illinois where she graduated from Rockfalls High School. She met Merle H. Sipher and they were married for 58 years prior to his passing in 2007. In 1970, they moved from Seattle to Ocean City to be near the beach which Marian so loved.

While in Seattle, Marian raised her family and was very active in scouting and the PTA. She was always present at her children’s activities-music, theater or sports. She was interested in local politics, serving as a precinct worker for many elections. Marian loved reading and treasured her collection of books.

After moving to the beach, she became an active member of the North Beach Historical Society and hosted a local cable channel TV show.  She also began working as a school cook. She was the lunch lady for 14 years. Marian enjoyed having visitors come out to the beach for a respite, a cup of coffee and a sweet treat.  Discussions varied; political matters, the most recent book she had read, spiritual matters, travel, and goings on of family members.  These conversations often occurred in the kitchen while hand washing, rinsing and drying the dishes.

In everything that Marian did, she was always adamant about one thing – her Norwegian heritage. Hail de Norge!

Marian is survived by her brother Keith; her children Bonnie, Dennis, Keith and Vanessa; grandchildren Debby, Delores, Bridget, Travis, Evan and Ian; and great-grandchildren Garrett, Bradly, Jeremy, Rebecca, Benjamin, Wendy and Thea. Marian was aware that a great-great-grandchild was due in April of 2022.

A memorial will be held on Saturday, November 20th at the Copalis Community Church at 2:00 PM.  Address: 3140 Highway 109, Copalis, WA 989536.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to the Copalis Community Church Food Bank, 3134 Highway 109, Copalis Beach, WA 98536
