Thomas Michael Fix of Snoqualmie, Washington was born in Madison, WI on 1/23/1945 to William and Salome (Reuter) Fix.   He graduated from the University of Wisconsin.   Tom battled Parkinson’s Disease with courage for 15 years before succumbing to complications of the disease.  He died peacefully at home on November 16th, 2023.

Tom spent much of his young adult years seeking adventures, he fondly remembered sharing a farmhouse in Black Earth, Wisconsin with 5 lifelong friends.  He traveled around Europe with a dear friend, a shoestring budget and an old motorcycle.   Tom spent time living in Ontario and British Columbia.   Tom kayaked the Gulf Islands off Vancouver Island, taught at Simon Frazier University, and groomed racehorses in Phoenix.

Tom had an artist’s eye and was a talented photographer.  He captured images of the people and experiences of his life that still grace the walls of family and friends.

Tom was a man of integrity, a devoted husband and father.   He met Carol Sadowski at a New Year’s Eve party in 1976.  By 1979 they were a couple, married in 1982 and he spent the rest of his life together with his wife and the family that followed.    The couple evolved into a family with the births of his children, Cora Salome and Ernest Charles Fix.   Tom’s love and devotion to his family was boundless.  Tom raised his children with love, tenderness, compassion and respect.  He took great joy and pride in their lives.    It must be noted that the family also included beloved dogs that were truly part of the family.

Tom’s legacy extended beyond the nucleus of his family.  What started as a temporary job with the City of Redmond evolved into a 36-year career culminating as the Drinking Water Quality Analyst.

Tom will be remembered for his sense of humor and propensity to assign nicknames.  He welcomed people to his life and home and hosted countless picnics and parties, volleyball games and Friday night martini nights.

Tom is survived by his wife, Carol Fix, son Ernest, daughter Cora with her husband John Hurney and their two children, Forrest Thomas and Camille Salome Hurney, and his sister Mary Jo Devins.   He was preceded in death by his parents and brother William “Zoomer” Fix.

A memorial service will be held for Thomas on January 19th at 4 pm at the Mt Si Senior Center in North Bend, WA.
