It is with deep sadness to announce the passing of Kathleen Rees Walzer, age 60, of Kirkland, WA on Sunday, August 21, 2022 from a long, hard fought battle with Pancreatic Cancer – first diagnosed Jan 27, 2021.  Kathleen was born August 27, 1961 in Key West, Florida to Patricia and William Rees.  She was raised in Port Orchard, WA and graduated from South Kitsap High School, class of 1980, and attended Olympic College.  Her ambitions brought her to the big city of Seattle where she worked at

Travelers Insurance, AT&T, MaryKay Cosmetic consultant, and ultimately to Overlake Medical Center – Senior Health Clinic in Bellevue.  For a brief period, the family moved to Yorba Linda California where Kathleen cherished the opportunity to be a stay-at-home Mom to Haley.  Ultimately the call of the Pacific Northwest and being closer to relatives had the family move back to Kirkland in 2014.  Her passions included serving the Lord, being a Mom and Wife, interior decorating of her home, Gardening – especially caring for white hydrangeas, and inspiring others to be their respective best.  Kathleen is known for always having a beautiful smile for others to see, and lighting up a room with her presence.   She will be deeply missed by everyone she touched.

Kathleen is survived by her husband David Walzer, Step-Son Bradford Walzer, daughter Haley Walzer; siblings Peggy Rees, Patti Rees, William Rees, and Sister-in-Law Carmen Rees along with six nieces and five great nephews.  Additionally, she is survived by Mother-in-Law Elizabeth Walzer, Father-in-Law Peter Walzer, Sister-in-Law Lisa Walzer Delgado, Brother-in-law Joe Delgado and a nephew and niece.

Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday September 3, at 1:00pm at Canyon Hills Community Church, 22027 17th Ave SE, Bothell, WA 98021.

In lieu of flowers, a Memorial donations can be made in name of Kathleen Walzer to Overlake Hospital, designation: Senior Care Program – link: overlakehospital.org/giving/make-a-gift.  Kathleen loved helping the Senior community as part of her employment with Overlake Medical Center – Senior Health Clinic.  The family also wants to extend a sincere appreciation to the incredible staff at Overlake Hospital and the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance clinic at Overlake for the compassionate care administered during Kathleen’s battle.

Finally, we share with you the following daily prayer that sustained our family, a prayer that kept us out of the depths of despair, anger and self-pity.   “Lord, we thank you for this day.  A day that we get to choose.  We get to choose between darkness or light. Today we choose light, in Jesus’s name.”
